I designed this library chiefly as an experiment in texture. I wanted something that was going to have a stronger visually tactile sense than have my other 3D designs. My computer can only handle so much information when rendering in 3D before becoming too slow to use, so I was constrained to designing a small space in order to meet the goal of the project. My solution was a small library in a British country home. The room isn’t large, but has detailed texture, a certain attached mood, and creates an interesting subject to look at. I decided to recreate natural light to lend a more rustic feel.
Another solution to my computer’s rendering capacity was to leave the walls opposite the show area of the model blank. They exist only to reflect soft lighting back into the room. This image is therefore principally to be viewed from one range of angles, and cannot be rendered as a 360 degree image.
